Hello Fellow Retro Game Enthusiast!
Welcome to Joystick Journey, a blog where life and video games blend into something resembling adulthood. Let me introduce myself, my name is Jeff but some of my friends call me El Jeffe. I started playing video games since I was about 6 year old. The ability to control a character on a screen with a push of button, sucked into a world of fantasy of doing things I never would imagine experiencing. Video games captured my attention instantly and stuck with my while I went through school. Staying up late to play video games with friends, going out to flea markets looking for deals, and learning more about the hobby I love all shaped me into who I am today.
What’s Up With These Tangents I’ve Seen on Your Blog
So when you read some of my content, you come across a section called “Tangent.” It may be loosely associated with the content or completely off topic. See, I’ve been told that I write exactly how I talk and when I talk, sometimes I’m reminded of something completely different and I go off track, I ramble a little, but I eventually find my way back. Either by coincidence or I realize that I went off topic and need to go back to the subject at hand. When that happens, I’d like to take a couple of minutes and type up what I’m thinking about instead of creating thin one paragraph content.
Video Game Memories
Reading and listing to other gamers share their stories was something I loved doing growing up. Knowing there were other kids like me out there who ate, slept, and dreamt of video games really made me realize that this hobby has an impact on our lives. From video game forums which no longer exist to Youtube shows and Twitch streams, it’s never been easier to share your love for video games. This is what Joystick Journey is about.
After all these years of listening to other people tell their stories and memories, I want to share my own by providing you with over 25 years of experience. I want to inspire you to be better video game collectors. And most important of all, I want to encourage you to share your experiences you had growing up playing video games.
The video game community is amazing and growing every day, something we should be proud of and raise to a higher standard. So in the words of Deckard Cain, stay awhile and listen.
